Geelong Birth Photography - The Birth of Sasha

Updated: May 2, 2019

Sasha's birth was my very first. You never forget your first.

I had never photographed a birth or even been in a birth suite before Georgina invited me into hers. When we had coffee a week before he came, I was met with a hug and a smile and knew I was in good company.

The prospect of witnessing my very first birth was exciting and nerve wracking as I didn't know if my constitution would even allow me to be ok in the room.

What if I pass out? What if there is an emergency? What about all the blood? What if I'm in the way?

But I knew how much I wanted to be there and that was enough to quiet the anxiety.

To my surprise birth is nothing like I anticipated. It's calm and slow and a total fucking miracle. Going into a birth you have no idea how you will handle it or the risks involved and I have so much respect and admiration for all the mamas out there.

The staff at Geelong Hospital were so accommodating and even had my name on the whiteboard so everyone knew I was supposed to be there.

Sasha joining us earth side was one of the best days of my life and I will forever be indebted to Rowan and Georgina for trusting me to capture it.

Stay tuned for the video.
