Maternity - Wild and Free

Pregnancy can be a really magical time or a really shit time, either way I think having some photos to look back on is important. I love to see woman embracing their bodies and celebrating this time.
Shelle booked me for her maternity shoot months in advance and it wasn’t until I met her for coffee I realized that I grew up with her brother. If you grew up in Bacchus Marsh you know that nearly everyone you meet has some connection and it never actually leaves you. We had so many conversations over the next few months, planning where and when and actually became friends. I was drawn to her free spirit and calming nature.
From the start Shelle wanted to go into the Otways and be out in the open and possibly naked. We decided on Stevenson’s Falls because it is an easy walk with kids and a pregnant lady… And there are redwoods and greenery, a photographers dream.
We chose dresses and a flower crown but as nice as the dresses looked they just weren’t her. Pregnancy changes so much about your body and I think it starts to feel like someone is borrowing it, you may love it you may hate it. But the photos we took in the waterfall show her surrender to her pregnancy and her wild and free spirit.
